Biografski film o legendarnoj junakinji sa Divljeg zapada koja je postala slavna nastupajući u cirkusu još slavnijeg Bufalo Bila (William Frederick "Buffalo Bill" Cody, 1846–1917). Ohajo, u drugoj polovini 19. veka. Mlada Eni Okli (B. Stanwyck) zarađuje za život ubijajući iz puške prepelice, koje potom doprema u mesni dućan. Na jednom jelovniku u Sinsinatiju vlasnik hotela u kojem su prepelice završile sazna za njenu neobičnu preciznost i uveren je da se radi o muškarcu. Organizuje ogled u preciznom gađanju sa uglednim strelcem Tobijem Vokerom (P. Foster), koji upravo potpisuje ugovor sa čuvenim cirkusom Bufalo Bila (M. Olsen). Dolazak devojke Eni izaziva šok, ali dvoboj se održi. Fenomenalno precizna Eni pušta iz sažaljenja meč u gađanju Tobiju, kako ne bi dovela u pitanje njegov ugovor sa Bilom.
