- A gunfighter defends his town when cattlemen threaten to destroy it by stampeding cattle through the farmlands. In 1886, the gunman and gambler Tom Early returns to his homeland to settle down, but he is rejected by his community. He rides to his farm, where he finds that his wife Alice has recently died and his son Tom Early Jr., who disagrees with taking up arms, is working alone. The next morning, Tom rides into the town to buy supplies and sees Sam, the grocer, humiliating his employee Jo. At the same time the cattle lord Grimsell arrives in town with two gunfighters, Gunn and Blondie, and tells the Preacher that he will be crossing 20,000 head of cattle through their lands and their town. Although the preacher tries to explain that the people own the land, Grimsell is not interested in their rights. When Blondie sees Tom Early, he draws his gun but is shot by Tom, in self defense, and kills the gunman. He then invites Jo to work on the farm. Sturges je režirao film prema scenariju Leona Urisa kome je kao predložak poslužio članak Džordža Skalina. Iako je istorijska faktografija u filmu izmenjena, Stardžisov je vestern opravdano poneo epitet najčuvenije ekranizacije ovog važnog događaja u naseljavanju američkog jugozapada i grčevite bitke za uspostavljanje reda i zakona. Pritom se reditelj odlučio za istančani spoj drame i akcionog filma. U prvom je slučaju reč o portretu Vajata Erpa i Džona "Dok" Holideja, i o prikazu njihovog međusobnog odnosa i odnosa sa ženama u koje su bili zaljubljeni, dok se u drugom slučaju radi o virtuozno režiranim sekvencama revolveraških obračuna i o napetoj priči o često uzaludnoj borbi protiv bezakonja. "Iznajmite revolveraša - spremnog na sve" je američka Vestern TV-serija koja se originalno emitovala na programu mreže CBS od 1957. do 1963. godine. Snimljeno je 225 epizoda koje su prikazane u šest sezona. Njen glavni junak je bio misteriozni revolveraš po imenu Paladin, koga je tumačio Ričard Bun, koji je živeo pod maskom dendija u San Francisku. Popularnost serije se odrazila u tome da je od 1959. do 1960. godine emitovana istoimena radio-serija i izdano nekoliko knjiga na temu Paladina.
